SQL for Data Science

Introduction

Welcome to the SQL for Data Science training course! During this course, you will learn how to use Structured Query Language (SQL) effectively in order to query and manage data. This is a critical skill set for any aspiring data scientist, as it helps you access and analyze large datasets.

We will start with a review of basic concepts from database theory such as tables, schemata, normalization, primary & foreign keys, and joins. Next, we will dive into writing SQL queries in various flavors including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS-Access/T-SQL, and Oracle. We will then use those skills to manipulate and extract information from databases including creating views, stored procedures, and cursors. You will also learn advanced techniques such as subqueries and complex joins that are useful when dealing with large datasets. 

The course also includes hands on lab exercises closely tied to real world problems — you will get a chance to apply what you have learned in class on practical scenarios like cleaning data sets or generating reports for stakeholders. This way you can practice your knowledge and develop an even better understanding of SQL fundamentals.
